Copper Textures in Photoshop
Copper Textures Photoshop Tutorial
In this Photoshop tutorial, I will walk you through how to make copper texture digital papers in Photoshop. We will make two brushed copper textures. The first is a horizontal brush effect. The second brushed copper texture is a radial brush effect.
Export Digital Papers
After I show you how to make simple textures in Photoshop, I’ll go over how to export these textures as digital papers for use outside of Photoshop. You can use digital papers as backgrounds and accent your designs. Since the files are saved as .jpg format you can use them anywhere. Word processing software, slide presentations, online graphics editors and more.
Create Photoshop pattern files and styles
Next I’ll show you how to create pattern files for Photoshop and a few simple styles to help your workflow. With patterns and styles already loaded into photoshop, you will save a lot of time searching for files and importing from various places.
Copper Textures, Glamour & Durability
The copper texture is one of my all-time favorite design elements. The color is so rich, the shine commands attention and the texture also has a masculine and a feminine quality that can’t be ignored.
Copper is perfect as an accent for graphics and for brand design. The richness of copper texture can go well in high-end design and live comfortably in a rustic work as well.
I adore textures with such amazing versatility. I feature a lot of textures like this in my video tutorials for exactly this reason. Texture with a high range of usefulness is especially helpful. You can take a texture like copper from fashion and, sophistication to shabby chic and, country charm.
Measuring the Versatility of Copper Texture for Design
I use this versatility measure quite often when I’m trying to decide what is worth keeping in my quick access design files. I also use it to decide what is better left in the vault for special projects. A good range is what I look for in a design asset because I value their flexibility.
If you can’t decide what stays and what goes in your own go to design files you can use this too. Ask yourself this question to help you decide.
Where can I use this?
If you can’t come up with at least ten good ideas across several genres, save it for a special occasion.
For me adding copper to my go to asset was a no brainer because I find myself going back to it over and over again.
Today’s design is another one of those textures that fit perfectly in a wide range of design so I’m excited to bring you two brushed copper textures. We will make these copper textures from scratch in this video.
As mentioned in the introduction, we’ll also take it further by exporting these textures as digital paper, Photoshop patterns and as a Photoshop style. There is plenty to learn in this short video. So without further ado, let’s get started.
Want more copper textures?
Now that you know how to make the basic copper texture, use those textures to experiment to make something more intricate and tailor-made for your designs by introducing layered textures and Photoshop filters.
In the digital paper pack below I took the base textures we made in the video and added more texture, tweaked the blend modes and added some filters to come up with a few interesting designs.
